ARIZONA FOR ABORTION ACCESS UPDATES
Door Knocking Pilot Effort
In coordination with our campaign partners, the League is planning to test-drive a targeted effort to reach precincts (via door-knocking) where we have a strong volunteer presence on 4/13 or 4/14 . We will target registered voters who are likely to support abortion access and have not yet signed the AAA petition. We'll ask them to sign or will leave behind a flyer with info about a nearby signing event. We need your help hitting these spots to test this model. Please complete the Google Form today, so we can start planning. If you don’t know your precinct, click here.
What's special about this effort is that we're working on a 3-touch model, which research shows is the most effective way to activate a voter. Our first touch was the Signature Slam Text-A-Thon where volunteers texted over 200K voters to drive traffic to the signing locations via Mobilize. The door-knocking effort will be a subset of those 290K we are texting. Did you miss our Signature Slam Text-A-Thon? Download the League in Action app from the Apple or Google app store to sign up for future actions. Instructions here.
Turn in Your Notarized Petitions
Petitions can often be notarized by your local bank. LWVMP member Rivko Knox has also offered her services as a notary. She lives in Glendale (N of Thunderbird and E of 31st Ave). Please contact her (bvaandrk@gmail.com OR 602-430-5287) to set up an appointment if you need a notary. Please return any notarized petitions to Tina Mollica (623-326-1952) by Wednesday evening. She will be turning them in Thursday morning. Let’s reach our goal of 333 signatures in March!
Signature Collection
Healthcare Rising is behind on processing petitions because tons of petitions are coming into the office. What can you do?
Volunteer for an event in April where signatures can be collected. Mobilize has the volunteer slots.
Collect at trailheads, Maricopa community colleges. If you are interested, contact Kathy Boltz.
Ask friends to help collect signatures. Share the Dos & Donts and the training video.
