GUEST SPEAKER: SHERRY AGUILAR, CITY CLERK OF SURPRISE AND A MEMBER OF LWVNWMC

  • Employed as Surprise, AZ City Clerk since 1996
  • Earned Certified Municipal Clerk’s designation & became a Certified Election Official in 1999
  • Earned a degree from ASU’s Certified Public Manager’s Program
  • Elected to Arizona Municipal Clerk’s Association Board in 2005 and served five years
  • In 2008 appointed as City Historian by the Mayor and Council of Surprise

Topics include Surprise City Hall as permanent polling location, early voting, and special purpose referendum.  Sherry is a member of our League and states she related to the mission of the League of Women Voters through their work with voter registration, voter outreach, and advocacy which often mirrors the work she does for the City of Surprise.
