RTS is designed to allow the public to register an opinion on bills listed on agendas and/or to request to speak on a bill in-person or online.  This training will teach you how to do this online.   When a committee is in session, the committee members, and the public, will see a list of names of people who have registered an opinion, whether you wish to speak or not, and comments you may leave in the comment box.   Legislators will see your bill position throughout the process.

Next to voting, RTS can be one of the most important tools we have to affect change as legislation is moving forward.  This training will prepare you to use RTS.  You will need to be registered with a RTS account, but that is not required for this training.

Go to Civic Engagement Beyond Voting (cebv.us) to sign up for an RTS account.
  • Click on the Request to Speak tab at the top
  • Click the red button—GET AN RTS ACCOUNT
  • This will take you directly to the application
  • Fill it out online and CEBV will take care of filing it at the Capital for you.

The Zoom link will also be posted on the Event calendar on our website (lwvmc.clubexpress.com).  Login as a member, click Events and Event Calendar to find Monday, January 9, 2023.  Questions?  Expect a phone call from a fellow league member with the answers this week!
